Council 4118 was chartered on October 9, 1955.
Council 4118 chose to bear the name of Father August Zeller, a
Redemptorist priest, who served the people of west Wichita and brought
them Knowledge, Love and Service.
A spin-off of Council 691, Council 4118 was organized
to serve the needs of Catholic men moving to what was then West Wichita
. Its first hall was located just west
of Maple and West street in Wichita, Kansas. This hall was sold in 1980 and the Council purchased a bowling
alley. Through thousands
of hours of donate labor by members, the 4118 Hall was dedicated on 1984
and serves as the hub of Council activities. 4118 is one of the dwindling number of councils which has
a hall.
4118 is one of the largest councils in the state
of Kansas with over 700 members serving St. Francis of Assisi Parish,
St.
Joseph s Parish, and
Christ The King Parish
in Wichita.
On the average, 4118 participates in 45 to 50 different
activities each year, aside from monthly meetings. Council activities
center around the Order s principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and
Patriotism. Like all councils, Council 4118 is always
ready to answer the call of any Roman Catholic priest.
